Christmas Book Countdown
Back in October, I shared the Halloween-themed library I put together for Georgia. She loved it so much, that I decided to turn it into a major holiday tradition while she’s still young and loves her books as much as she does. Obviously, I had to do a Christmas Countdown theme for December, but making it the full 25 days was a bit daunting. Plus, because she’s so young, I’m not sure she would have the patience to grasp 25 whole days of waiting for anything!I have no doubt there are 25 Christmas books out there for toddlers, but I decided to make it easy on myself by going with just 10 this year.
The 10 Christmas books I decided to make a part of our special Christmas countdown this year are:
The part that really brings the festivity over the top is wrapping each book individually. I loved doing this and know that Georgia will get a total kick out of getting to unwrap a little pre-Christmas present each night for 10 nights a row (give or take a few, because I’m sure we’ll skip a night here or there)!
I know gift wrapping can be a headache for some, but instead of breaking out your best wrapping paper, I found these bags from Amazon that could be used and reused year after year! Also, if you have ever received an Amazon gift bag, save it! They are perfect for a DIY project like this and come in handy in so many other ways throughout the year.
My whole plan with these holiday-themed library pop-ups for Georgia is to keep all the books in her closet during the off-season, so they don’t get overused and will feel like new gifts next Christmas as well. It’s the type of collection you can add to and edit! I also love that this little library is by no means an extravagant expense. Five days’ worth of books or getting really resourceful and wrapping up books they haven’t read in a while would be just as exciting for them!
Hot Christmas Book Countdown tip: Target frequently has a buy two get one free book sale, so I try to take advantage of that when I can. There are so many directions you could take with this project: 25 days, 10 days, 5 days, kids wrap books for their siblings, and whoever opens the book has to read it?! There are endless options to put your family’s spin on this. The point is, have fun and enjoy some holiday-themed fun with your little ones!
