Georgia’s Ballet Favorites

We have a dancing queen at our house! Georgia loves to twirl and put on a show. She took ballet earlier this year and it just wasn’t a great fit, but this time around there have been nothing but smiles!

If you have a tiny dancer at home, this post is for you!

If you’re deciding if it’s a good time to start a dance class for your little one, here are a few things that helped round two go a little smoother for us:

  • Age - 2.5 was a little early for Georgia, but 3 seems to be the perfect age for her

  • Timing - Week day, afternoon class instead of an early, Saturday morning class (if you have a later riser like we do)

  • Sign up with a friend! Georgia has two friends in her class

  • Build up the excitement! We drove by the dance studio, we tried on her outfit, read ballet books, played with her new ballet doll, talked about her friends who would be in the class… anything to build up the excitement and make it feel familiar.

  • Routine - we got dressed early on the first day and designated a dance bag so she knows where to keep her shoes and mask.

All toddlers are different, sometimes new experiences go over well and other times no so much. I’ve found the more we talk about an upcoming situation, the more pleasant the process. Hope this helps!!

Although all these books are on repeat the one she seems to grab the most is Ballet Bunnies, if you’re lookin for a new book for your little I definitely recommend starting with it. Georgia absolutely loves story time with her doll, she’s a ballerina that comes with her own book as well. You can find her HERE.
