When you are selecting your little one’s first puzzle you want to ensure the pieces are large enough not to be a chocking hazard. The large pieces will also help them be able to pick up and place the pieces while still working their fine motor skills. Anything with a knob on the top is a great starting point. Once they get the hang of that move on the the others!

As your baby starts to move into the toddler zone, you can go a little smaller and thinner with your puzzle pieces. However you still want to stick to large pieces that are just challenging enough without being frustrating. You don’t want them to give up!

MOM TIP: If your toddler starts to master their individual puzzles mix up the pieces from a few puzzles and have them match them with the correct boards.
